Active Week 2019 + Joe Crowe Cup + Declan Griffin Cup
Active Schools Week is a week for our students, staff and parents to get up and get more active. The children were asked to wear their tracksuits for the whole week (Monday 10th-14th June) and the only homework given that week was to get active every evening.
We were walking from the Coolquay Lodge on Monday , Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday morning ( Leaving at 8.50am ) . On Tuesday and Wednesday morning we had Wake Up and Shake Up activities on the yard and some of the parents joined ! ( Activities included aerobics , dancing , simple stretches … nothing too strenuous !) Starting at nine and running for about 15 minutes. Aswell on that Wednesday Enda Timoney from the GAA came in doing handball with some of the classes and Nigel Kennedy did some fun GAA activities !
We also competed in the Joe Crowe Cup which is a tournament between the three local schools in the area Kilcoskan , St Margarets and Rivermeade . Everyone had a great time with St Margarets running out as eventual winners and deservedly lifting the cup . Thanks to all the schools for a lovely day , to Trish for all her effort and to Nigel Kennedy for all his work organising it.
We also entered the Declan Griffin schools tournament for 1st-4th classes organised by Rolestown NS and held in Fingal Ravens , Valerie's group won the shield final !! a big thank you to teachers Aoife and Valerie for looking after things , and again to Nigel Kennedy for all his help .
